I had the Stuffed Grape Leaves and the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich with fries. Everything was super fresh and very flavorful.

I stopped by in the early afternoon, so it was not busy at all, but the service was great - very friendly and attentive.

I would definitely recommend this place, and I'm hoping to go back before I leave town!

    Bottom Line:
Extremely tasty Greek/Middle Eastern food at moderate prices in pleasant surroundings.

    Top Line:
I was looking for a meal out of the Houston midday humidity, so I ducked into Zeus Cafe for lunch. I ordered the Zeus salad $7, a bowl of lentil soup $5, baklava $4 for dessert, and a cup of Turkish coffee $2 to finish. Lemon water was my starter.

The flavor of the generous size bowl of lentil soup was super deep, rich, and highly complex, with turmeric being especially prominent. There were several very thin slices of garlic suspended in the soup, so obviously that accounted for some of the wonderful flavor. The soup came with a scoop of parsley dolloped on top, which when mixed into the soup became another flavor note in the mix. The texture was fairly thin (it's a soup after all, not a stew) with a shimmering of immensely tiny drops of oil along the edges. Overall, I found this to be a very, very good soup.

Pita bread that came with soup was very thin and chewy. Much flatter than usual pitas you find in grocery store. It's elevated level of chewiness made it a fitting accompaniment to the soup.

The Zeus salad consisted of a generous portion, again, of medium to fine chopped cucumber, tomato, onion, and a few other chunks I couldn't identify liberally drenched in a milky dressing that was well laced with herbs and all topped off with a dusting of sumac or possibly za'atar. Flavor was very fresh and well balanced between faint sweetness and soft vinegar tang, with the herb notes playing their support role very nicely. It was another dish I found interesting in it's complexity and depth of flavor.

Dessert baklava came as two triangles (vs the usual single piece) so again a good size portion. This baklava was also thicker than many (most?) I've seen. The layer of walnuts in the middle was especially prominent. This thick layer insured that the baklava had a strong rich nutty flavor. The flavor was also very very sweet, as it should be, with the characteristic honey flavor predominating. The texture was as expected, crunchy flaky filo layers and solid density in the nut layer. The bottom layer of filo had baked hard enough that a fork proved mostly insufficient to cut it. A knife was the tool du jour for that job.

And finally there was the tiny cup of Turkish coffee. While the rest of the meal impressed me with it's complexity and depth of flavor, this demitasse chalice of caffeinated ambrosia absolutely dazzled me. This tasted different than any Turkish coffee I've had anywhere else. The front end taste was of dancing pepper notes that parallel the spicy scents of certain exotic woods like cocobolo or padauk or, in a faint way, Brazilian walnut. As a former woodworker, these scents were immediately and irresistibly recalled and identified while sipping this Turkish coffee. The finishing taste was also a woody association. The opening pepper notes, once the liquid was swallowed, shifted to a very soft scent of pine resin, as if you stood among a stand of young pines after a rain. The layer of mandatory coffee sludge was left at the bottom of the tiny cup. This was truly an amazing cup of coffee. As noted, unlike any other I've had.

The interior of Zeus Cafe is mostly clean lines and modernish furnishings set among the scattered artworks. The exception is the area around the serving window and counter where the waitress handles her duties. That space was visually hectic and served to distract from the otherwise pleasantly placid interior of the restaurant.

While my waitress was proficient and pleasant, I felt she lacked the sense of timing that comes with experience to know what to do when. She seemed to lose customer focus at some moments, then was excellently engaged at others. There is that intuitive sixth sense that great waiters and waitresses have that shows they know just where we are at each step in the intricate dance of the eating experience. That knowledge makes them seamless, smooth, and seemingly effortless partners in your dining from start to finish. I expect with more experience, this young lady can achieve the same.

This is a small restaurant in strip shopping center near Katy Mills Mall & Typhoon Texas. Don't let the location fool you, this gem of a place is wonderful. It has a large menu for the size of the place and everything is cooked to order. You can do take out or eat in and while I was there it was half-and-half of eat in & take out customers.

I ordered the Kufta plate and it comes with a choice of 2 sides. When my food arrived the quantity was huge for especially considering the price. It was delicious however I couldn't eat it all and opted to bring my leftovers home.

I wish I lived closer to this place I'd be eating/ordering from here all the time.

The Humus was very good and creamy. Did not try anything else. Being an appetizer, the price was good, and the service pleasent. Will be back.

This is my favorite go to restaurant anytime I am shopping at Katy Mills Mall. They staff/owner Is very nice and welcoming. I always get my food "to go" and everytime my food has been amazing. I always get the chicken shawarma wrap with fries. And my friend always orders the red fish with shrimp and double Greek salad. The food always tastes fresh and is well seasoned. To top it all off they sell my favorite drink to wash it all down.....Topo Chico lol.
